Mission
onScene Magazine is an arts and culture magazine and curator. We shine a light on African arts and culture on the continent and throughout the diaspora through media and events to connect artists, buyers, and enthusiasts.
We serve as a lens to explore Black creative arts scenes through the eyes of curators, writers, and tastemakers around the world. Through a network of contributors, onScene Magazine shines a light on the arts through exploring, unpacking, and engaging a scene through the works of its local creators and contributors.
We pride ourselves in the careful consideration of fine art, fashion, film/TV, lifestyle, literature, and music that defines and describes African artistic expression. We understand the power of visibility and international understanding, it is the lifeblood of artistic success for Black artists.
It is our mission to serve as an ethical and equitable news and arts curator. In a time where information is so often inaccessible and travel is economically exclusionary, onScene Magazine is both a source of information and a guide into arts and culture scenes for people whose first exploration takes place online. We extend this exploration through bespoke and limited print publishing initiatives, in-person events, and more.
